Little if any change

Having thought about recent goings on, we decided to do the bulk for our March shop today.
Hubby wanted to get the nuts and bolts for the greenhouse which were in stock at the DIY outlet in one town but not the other, so as we want to press on ASAP, we got them today.

The weather was foul first thing and has been raining all night, but here we are at 4.50pm and the sun is shining, though it’s still windy and starting to chill down for the evening.

Today has been our four shop day, playing one off against the other to get the best deals for our money, though we have had no need to buy any meat for the freezer, and what veg we bought is the same price as it was a month ago.
Fresh fruit is up though, so we bought a punnet of grapes for £1.49 compared to £1.24, though six bananas only cost me 85p so still round 14p each.
There has been a decrease of 10p per 500g pack of dried apricots which I have on my cereal, but tea bags, cereal itself, porridge, muesli, granola, bread, baked beans, a tray of 15 eggs, cheese, UHT milk and rice are still the same. The tri colour pasta I like has gone up 5p per 500g, and Maggie’s food has reverted back to £6.50 as it’s not on special offer at the moment.
Toilet rolls are always ‘fun’ though, £2.50 for 4, £5.75 for 9, special offers of £5 for 12 or £8 for 24. My preferred kitchen roll saw 2 small rolls of 50 sheets each at £2, 3 rolls of 100 sheets each at £2.50 on special offer or 4 rolls of 100 sheets for £6. I’m waiting for the 6 rolls for a fiver which is due to come around soon, but did buy a 3 pack today.

The biggest surprise has been dried stuffs.
Don’t cringe, but I keep instant mash in the cupboard which has gone up from 25p to 28p as well as a stash of instant custard which was originally 15p but is now 20p. Hubby also likes stuffing (stop snickering, I mean the sage and onion variety!) which was 15p a box three weeks ago and is now 25p.

So thus far, there has been little change in our shopping expenditure as we continue to shop around and balance the merchandise accordingly.

Obviously I have been late in accessing my blog today, but have decided not to go to SW tonight as I’m shattered and don’t fancy sitting in a cold hall.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
