Weekend Writing Prompt #142 – Looking-glass

SAMMI’S WEEKEND WRITING PROMPT
The challenge is simple: each week you will be given an exact number of words you can use to write a poem or piece of prose.  You can use any format or style you like; go wherever your inspiration takes you.  The only rules are these:

  • your poem / prose must contain this week’s word.  The word does not have to count towards the exact word count total – it can be in the title, or the first letters of the lines of a poem can spell it out – you can be as creative as you want as long as it’s there somewhere.
  • the length of your poem / prose must match the number of words stated in this week’s challenge.  No more.  No less.

The looking glass reflects an alternative world, where left is right and right is left.
Depth perception is two dimensional, should we step through will we fit into that world or is it only an illusion?
It is a wonder as each day my mother looks back at me with that twinkle in her eye and knowing smile. If only I could touch her.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Interesting take on the prompt! I’ve been hosting a first sentence prompt for a while now and ran across this prompt so I joined in with my own 64 words.
