Song Lyric Sunday: 26th January

Jim has given us Duets as our theme this week.
I would normally go for a male and female singing a love song, unless it was Kiki Dee and Elton John (and those dungarees) Don’t go Breaking My Heart from 1976, which Jim is going to write about later today.

I’m going with a double Phil, that is Phil Collins and Phil Bailey and Easy Lover from 1984.

Easy Lover” is a song performed by Philip Bailey, of Earth, Wind & Fire, and Phil Collins of Genesis and jointly written and composed by Bailey, Collins, and Nathan East (BMI adds Stacey Dove Daniels, Danny Ray Nixon and Olivia Pamela Roshell as co-owners of the rights).  Source WIKI

Easy lover
She’ll get a hold on you believe it
Like no other
Before you know it you’ll be on your knees
She’s an easy lover
She’ll take your heart but you won’t feel it
She’s like no other
And I’m just trying to make you see

[Verse 1: Bailey]
She’s the kind of girl you dream of
Dream of keeping hold of
You’d better forget it
You’ll never get it
She will play around and leave you
Leave you and deceive you
Better forget it
Oh you’ll regret it

[Bridge: Collins]
No you’ll never change her, so leave it, leave it
Get out quick cause seeing is believing
It’s the only way
You’ll ever know, oh

[Chorus]
She’s an easy lover
She’ll get a hold on you believe it
Like no other
Before you know it you’ll be on your knees
She’s an easy lover
She’ll take your heart but you won’t feel it
She’s like no other
And I’m just trying to make you see

[Verse 2: Bailey]
You’re the one that wants to hold her
Hold her and control her
You’d better forget it
You’ll never get it
Oh she’ll say that there’s no other
Till she finds another
Better forget it
Oh you’ll regret it

[Bridge: Collins]
And don’t try to change her, just leave it, leave it
You’re not the only one, ooh seeing is believing
It’s the only way
You’ll ever know, oh

[Instrumental]

[Bridge: Bailey & Collins]
Now don’t try to change her, just leave it, leave it
You’re not the only one, cause seeing is believing
It’s the only way
You’ll ever know, oh

[Chorus]
She’s an easy lover
She’ll get a hold on you believe it
She’s like no other
Before you know it you’ll be on your knees
(You’ll be down on your knees)
She’s an easy lover
She’ll take your heart but you won’t feel it
She’s like no other
And I’m just trying to make you see
(Trying to make you see, yeah)

She’s an easy lover
She’ll get a hold on you believe it
(Get a hold on you)
Like no other
Before you know it you’ll be on your knees
(You’ll be on your knees)
She’s an easy lover
She’ll take your heart but you won’t feel it
(You won’t feel it)
She’s like no other
And I’m just trying to make you see
(Trying to make you see)

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
