I cheated a little bit with my Three Things Challenge earlier as we had to take Maggie to the vet today.
You may remember last year a lump came up on her face and at first it was thought to be a bad tooth. Things didn’t improve, so she was knocked out and a saliva gland drained. The bad news was that as fast as they drained it, so it filled up again, and when we collected her, her face was twice the size it had been! We were given some different antibiotics but they didn’t really seem to do anything, but we decided against surgery for the time being, and as thing turned out, it sorted itself out anyway.

We noticed a little marble on Friday, but she was eating and drinking OK and it didn’t seem to bother her. We started with the metacam anti-inflammatory as we had last time, but yesterday it had doubled in size and although not as big as the one last year, we made an appointment with the vet today.
It seems to be the saliva gland again, so we’ve got a 14 day course of antibiotics and have to give her the metacam every day for the duration.
She’s OK in herself, as loving (and demanding!!) as ever, is eating and drinking OK and the bodily functions are normal, so that is all good news. Obviously if it starts to give her trouble we shall be going back before they’re finished.
I hope she gets well soon.
Thanks. She’s scrounging as normal and eating very well, so I don’t think she’s too uncomfortable!
That must be a relief for you.
Yeah. Everything is normal apart from the swollen cheek, bless her.
That’s nice.
Get well Maggie!
Thanks Ruth.
Get better soon, Maggie!
Thanks Chris.
