Weekend Writing Prompt #139 – Devour

I haven’t done one of these yet this year, but as you read my response, you might understand why I picked up on it today.
First thanks to Sammi Cox for setting the prompt and a Happy New Year to you

Do you believe in coincidence or deja vu? Have you often seen something but read it as something else?
Thus it was with me and today’s prompt. I read DEVOUR as ‘detour’ plus the number of words required for our post was significant.
These days, a visit to A&E can mean a referral to somewhere else. This is all very well if you have your own transport, but think on this for a finger injury with inflammation.
It was recommended a trip to another hospital that had a hand injury specialist. This was 108 miles away, and a 2 hour journey for most, but at least double that for us.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
