Fibbing Friday 10th January: my response

Many thanks to PCGuyIV this week for our questions and a new logo.
So here we go with the questions and my silliness………… sort of.

  1. How did the phrase, “That’s the last straw!” originate?
Arguments in the McDonalds kitchen over a goods delivery.

  2. What really grows in Contrary Mary’s garden?
If I told you, I’d be arrested for grassing.

  3. Though often depicted as such, Humpty Dumpty is never called an egg in the nursery rhyme. Who or what is he, really?
He was a bewitched prince who tried to lead a double life but misjudged the distance of his standing.

  4. How much wool did the black sheep have, and where did he get it?
It wasn’t very much due to cutbacks, but he had appearances to keep up and orders to fill, so he cheated and blended in substandard fibres from the local stables.
  5. Why did the little lamb follow Mary everywhere she went?
Its collar had got caught in the hem of her frock.

  6. What exactly is a tuffet?
    The opposite of a soffit.

  7. What happened to the Knave of Hearts after he stole the Queen’s tarts?
He lost his head over a pretty damsel as he got his tarts confused.

  8. What kind of pie was Little Jack Horner eating?
    A hot one

  9. Why did the girls cry when Georgie Porgie kissed them?
His pudding and pie had got caught in his teeth and his breath stank.

  10. What does the phrase, “Bob’s your uncle” mean?
A bob was another name for a shilling and what the Ladies of the Night used to charge their clients.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Great answers, especially 9 & 10. I scheduled my answers to post around 8:00 am CDT, so roughly an hour and a half from now. I think you’ll find we had very similar notions about #9.
