Song Lyric Sunday 5th January

Our theme today January 5, 2020 is ‘La’.
https://jimadamsauthordotcom.wordpress.com/2020/01/04/la-a-note-to-follow-so/

No half baked Telly Tubbies or doh-a-deers from me, but rather a simple ballad by The Delfonics from 1968.

I was only 12, but would sway to the gentle rhythm in my bedroom. Even now, it’s a nice one to snuggle up to and smooch with Hubby.

Written by Thom Bell and William Hart, produced by Bell and Stan Watson.

Many guys have come to you
With a line that wasn’t true
And you passed them by
(Passed them by)
Now you’re in the center ring
And their lines don’t mean a thing
Why don’t you let me try
(Let me try)

Now I don’t wear a diamond ring
I don’t even have a song to sing
All I know is

La la la la la la la la la means
I love you
Oh, baby please now
La la la la la la la la la means
I love you

If I ever saw a girl
That I needed in this world
You are the one for me
(One for me)
Let me hold me in my arms
Girl, and thrill you with my charms
I’m sure you will see
(You will see)

The things I am sayin’ are true
And the way I explain them to you
Listen to me

La la la la la la la la la means
I love you
Oh, baby baby
La la la la la la la la la means
I love you

The things I am sayin’ are true
And the way I explain them to you, yes to you
Listen to me

La la la la la la la la la means
I love you
Oh, you’ll have to understand now
La la la la la la la la la means
I love you
Come on and take my hand
La la la la la la la la la means
I love you

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. Great song Di, I loved listening to it. You just gave me an idea for a new prompt being your favorite song to cuddle or snuggle with, which I think will be real fun. I have prompts scheduled all through March, so this will have to wait a bit.

Impeccable vocals and yes oh so romantic.

  3. aisasami says:

What a great song! Although it sounds simple, it is really romantic and soothing!

  4. Fandango says:

Wow, almost as many “la’s” as in Van Morrison’s “Brown Eyed Girl,” which had 66. I think I counted 61 in your song. Well done, Di.

  5. Violet Lentz says:

This was also recorded by Todd Rundgren as part of a medley with I’m so proud and Ooh Baby Baby on his Wizard a True Star album. I love it.

  6. ghostmmnc says:

oooh It’s been awhile since I’ve heard this one. So good! 🙂
