Vacations and Bank Holidays always make me lose track of time, and this week has been no exception.
Shops were closed here on Christmas Day, but many were open on the 26th with items at knock down prices, these probably being things that didn’t sell before Christmas, old stock, or perishables with a short shelf life. It was a ‘normal’ shopping day on Friday.
Being retired, even if not of the state pensionable age yet, every day is more or less the same for us, and if anything we might simply do things in a different order. Our constant is walking the dog at least four times during the day and having breakfast and a main meal.
I could have sworn today was Sunday, but it’s still Saturday thanks to my computer which shows me the day and date when I switch on.
My keypad is a mess because I’ve worn off a lot of the letters and have been using alphabet stickers on the worst, but I’m fast running out of those that fit. We have also tried using a fine white marker pen, but that was totally useless and rubbed off almost as soon as I touched it.
Have you ever actually thought about which letters are the most common use? The experts always go for ‘E’ which I can confirm as I’ve replaced it 6 times already, and it is closely followed by T, L, A, B , N, M, H, U, G and O. Surprisingly, I is not and Y, P, S, D, F, J, K, Z, X ,C, and V are also intact. Q, R and W are missing a bit, but not enough to warrant stickers. Thought you might like to know.
Anyway, tomorrow we are off to collect some flat pack shelving units as we are a little bit squashed with our present arrangement and I have a cupboard to sort out in the bedroom which contains a few items that might be better on a shelf, you know, like books?
We put our trimmings away today and after we’ve put everything together tomorrow, we’ll have a thorough spring clean as we do every year so that we start the New Year with the ‘cleanest’ house.
