Thursday photo prompt: Offering #writephoto

Sue has given us a stunning picture to work with this week. You can check out her challenge here:

For visually challenged writers, the image shows a female figure, translucent and rainbow coloured, emerging from mist in which many shapes move. She is holding a bowl. Before her are strange blue pinnacles… which could be close or distant, spires, ice or… something else…

Why are you afraid?
I come to you from the shadows
Offering you peace.
There is no malice in my thoughts,
Nothing to fear……
Unless you do not want my gift.
It is your life as I see it,
Past, present and future,
Do you not want to see?
Come, take the cup from my hand
And drink.
It cannot harm you,
It is yours, it is You,
Your essence, your being.
Why do you shrink from me?
I am no devil holding your soul captive.
Maybe it is your conscience.
Drink and you will be free:
There is no need to fear me.
The past has gone,
The present is now and this gift:
The future is not set,
There is time to change your destiny.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Her voice may be so sweet,
    But you don’t know,
What is in the cup of water,
You may be gone after you drink it.
So always be careful, dear Friends.

Such a beautiful poem for the New Year, Di… and it fits Sue Vincent’s prompt so well!
