QUESTIONS FOR THE WEEK 12-23-19:

Do dogs ‘talk’ (communicate) with their own species?   (credit to Marilyn of Serendipity)   And not just on Christmas Eve, as the old legend says all animals do.

https://www.mentalfloss.com/article/72843/how-talking-animals-became-christmas-legend

Interesting legend, and one I obviously missed.  I think all animals communicate with each other anyway. (Dr Doolittle didn’t have to all his own way you know!)

Have you ever had to work on Christmas Day?
Any Mum with a family always works on Christmas Day, but working as in getting paid? Yes, once at the corner shop when she was open for just 2 hours (10am to midday) for those little things that someone’s always forgot, and I got paid a fiver for helping out.

If someone gifts you something that you immediately loathe, do you pretend to really like it anyway or are you brutally honest about your opinion?
It’s my biggest fear that I will not like a gift that has been bought specifically for me. My face gives my emotions away, but apart from a CD which I’d said I DIDN’T want and got anyway (I made my feelings very clear on that too), I have always appreciated and liked anything gifted to me. Even when I knew my MIL gifted me her raffle prizes, I actually liked them, including a blue powder puff and talc which she was going to throw in the bin so I said to give it to me for Christmas, and she did!

Which popular drink, found during the Christmas season most often, is called “milk punch?”
I’ve never heard of it, but then I don’t drink anyway. Looking it up, it’s milk and spirit served cold and topped with nutmeg. I like Baileys……. does that count?

How many ghosts show up during “A Christmas Carol?”
Four: many forget Marley.

Are you all about the holly and jolly or more about remembering the alleged ‘true’ meaning of Christmas?
I’m happy most of the time regardless of the season, but Christmas to me is about sharing and giving, love and understanding, and making time for other people.

Please share a memory or thought about the holiday season if you’d like, whatever kind of celebration you may observe.

This has to be a toss up between all the family Christmases in the parental home and Hubby’s and my first Christmas.  We were totally broke and did all our shopping at car boot sales, but got something for everybody. Our Christmases are always good, and this is our 31st together.
Happy days and memories.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

    • Thanks Melanie. Hope you’re over the worst of your bug now. I’m looking forward to tomorrow and cooking a full roast dinner for a change. We had beans on toast with a fried egg today in preparation for the BIGGIE and that was delicious!
Hope you enjoy your day with the boys. Treats and hugs by proxy.
