Take Seven #10

Welcome to my 10th Take Seven, a combination piece containing all 21 words included in the Three Things Challenge.

The words were:
Bird, blush, captive, collar, compete, congeal, crimson, cruise, electricity, hero, once, prop, pump, rust, scene, shell, speaker, thumb, tie, truth, wolf.

β€œYou’re a wolf in sheep’s clothing, that’s what you are, and if you’re not careful, someone, somewhere is going to collar you, tie you up and hold you captive until you plead for mercy.”
‘No chance,’ he grinned slyly. ‘No-one is going to have me under their thumb, and that’s the damn truth!’

The play rehearsal was not going well. This was the third time they’d tried this scene, and it didn’t help that the leading lady would blush crimson to the roots of her rust coloured hair when the ‘hero’ swept her off her feet to save her from ‘Lecherous Larry’ as the villain had been so dubbed. Once he had fallen over a misplaced prop on his entrance and gone head first into her lap.
There was just no electricity between any of them, only an empty shell of trite script that was being badly delivered by little more than autonomous speakers.
Maybe it was time for someone else to compete for the leads and pump some life into this sorry state of affairs. He’d had dreams of a smash Broadway hit that would simply cruise him to fame and fortune. It wasn’t going to happen with this production so perhaps it was better to concede that the bird of an idea had flown rather than let his theatrical ambition congeal like yesterday’s gravy.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
