We played the team below us in the league today and the end result was 6 points each.
Once again the opposition are good fun and there was a lot of laughter.
This is the third time I’ve been to this venue and each time it’s been different.
Being a social club rather than a pub, it has plenty of space, but they have had a revamp and it’s much cosier. We could take the dog in, so Hubby joined us later and she was brilliant. She was fussed by a lot of people, then settled down under the table and snoozed. She sat up with her nose twitching as she could smell food, this week it was a mini buffet of quiche, sausage rolls, cocktail sausages and cheesecake. As I’ve said before, the hearing and eyesight might be going, but there is nothing wrong with her nose! She had a couple of bits of sausage and sausage roll and was quite content with that, so didn’t scrounge, which was a relief!
I will confess I have been an absolute glutton today having a carvery at the garden centre, with a dessert, and helped myself to a second piece of cheesecake tonight.
As we were playing our final pairs match, the other girls were talking about exercise and swimming. We have a couple of rather buxom ladies on the team, one of which was saying that as she was so well endowed she would probably float anyway. She then saw me and flushed, feeling embarrassed. I’ve told her before not to worry about it as it doesn’t bother me, and said that if I went swimming I would probably go round in circles now. Everyone found that really funny and an awkward moment was soon behind us. I wouldn’t wear The Precious if I did go swimming though as it would be just my luck for it to go floating off to do its own independent breast stroke.
It was a good night, and we have our mixed pairs knockout next week. I have five teams in and have put myself down as the marker, even though I’m not playing. My stamina is improving all the time, and we are playing every day at home now. My game is erratic, but coming along, so I am confident I’ll be up to a match or two come New Year.
