Hurrah! The girls won their match last night.
Double One tormented everyone and darts ended up on the floor, pot-holing the wall and after trying to rearrange the overhead light, eventually on the board, and we were given a point anyway as the opposition only had 5 players.
Remember this?
It was a bit cramped though as one of the two First Division home teams was also playing, so Hubby couldn’t play pool, Maggie wouldn’t settle and the amount of food that was wasted (mainly by the first division lot) was disgraceful.
We were currently bottom of the league with just 8 points, so this may move us up a bit.
This team had played for another pub last year, but the owners had decided not to open on certain days of the week during the winter and Tuesday wasn’t one of them.
Everyone was in good spirits, though there was a little bit of tension as one of my new signings had originally signed up with them but had a falling out with one of the players. Another used to be the captain of our team when I first joined them in 2017 and hadn’t been that popular as she was always a bit grumpy. She wasn’t captain though.
The standard of play was, for want of being polite, varied. The different styles and techniques in throwing were ‘enlightening’, but all in all the girls had a good night and we were definitely pleased with the result.
points toΒ
A Christmas meal has been planned for the team locally, and the girls have decided to ‘treat me’ for being their Captain. I’m overwhelmed as I’ve never had anything like this before simply for being ‘Me’.
How fun! And nice to move up on the standings, too!
Maybe only one place, but it’s done wonders for the team spirit!
Congrats on winning! Sounds like an awful lot of fun!
I even chalked a game so kept my hand in.
Very cool! π
