Today, Tuesday 19th November

It’s been a funny day………. not funny haha, but funny peculiar.
I was awake just after 6 when Maggie jumped off the bed but decided she didn’t want to go out afterall and snuggled back against me for an hour. When she got up the next time, Hubby was ready for her and let her out into the garden. However, after letting her back in, he announced he was going back to bed as he was exhausted.
Bed was still comfortable and warm, so I stayed put until 8, then I got up, washed and dressed and took Maggie out for a walk as Hubby was still in Z-land and I won’t wake him.

To be honest, I was feeling a little down when I woke up.
Nothing to do with my op, just generally feeling low, and I knew a walk always makes me feel better.
It was frosty this morning, our first, so everywhere was white and shimmery, the pavement a little crunchy underfoot, but not icy. Just as well as I wasn’t wearing my trainers, just my clogs, but I was glad of my hat and heavy yellow coat as it was quite chilly.

At that time, there were few people about, and because the road is still closed, traffic pretty light. I only walked round the block, but Maggie performed for me and I met up with a guy walking his lhasa-apso
or it could have been a shih-tzu as I’m always getting them muddled up.
Still, I was greeted with a waggy tail and doggy grin as I bent down to offer some fuss before her ladyship came back to me as if to say ‘Oi! You’re not meant to be doing that!’
Bending down is a little awkward, but I’m clearing up after Maggie as I should and fussing the little dog wasn’t so far to reach!

When I got home, I made breakfast as quietly as possible as Hubby was still asleep. He finally surfaced at 10.30, so I made him a cup of tea and his breakfast as he started doing the laundry.
Dinner today was chili and rice which I had already prepared and I invited our neighbour to join us as she was also feeling a little down. Whilst Hubby was up at the launderette, we had a good girlie chinwag over cups of tea and I started cooking our meal just before 1pm.
I think we both felt better for it.

Whenever we have a late start to the day, time seems to fly, but today has been different for some reason. We seem to have crammed a lot in, and I’ve given Maggie a second walk, this time with my neighbour for company while Hubby washed up.
It’s after 4 in the afternoon now and starting to get dark, the street lights having already come on.  I’ve done quite a bit of blogging work today, including two poems for a change.

We’re at home for darts tonight, our first home match of the season, so Hubby will be coming up to play pool, and Maggie will be content to sit under the table. I won’t be playing, though we did have a little practice in the hall with me using my left hand.
Out of six throws, only 2 darts hit the board, and Hubby ran for cover as I almost hit the chalkboard with a third. I’m glad we still have the carpet in place underneath else I could well have speared the radiator a few times.
It’s bad enough when I kebab the dog’s dinner!

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

It’s dark here so much of the day and now rain is coming. Bleh…

Hope you get a good night’s sleep tonight and feel chipper tomorrow. I need one too. Kitty kept me up last night opining about “things.” 🙄

  3. “They’ll be days like this my mama said.” Not sure who sang it but it popped into my head. Hope your evening is going well!

  4. I was thinking the same thing… You really did get a lot of blogging in today. Some really awesome stuff!
I’ve notied that if I sleep in, my day is all thrown off. But today was a good one.
I was up and out the door to the supermarket, (my least favorite lace other than Walmart), but there ws no incident this time around. Thank goodness. I came home, took care of a few chores, and sat down and have been reading and lite writing here and there.
I remember once yu had asked me if I ever posted any of my crocheting stuff… You can find it on the 321 Quote Me for today’s entry.
As far as the darts go… You’ll be back in form before you know it. Just keep praticing, but don;t overdo it. 😍😘
