Weighting for weigh in

It’s Monday, so that means weigh in day.
I had a small gain last week which actually put me bang on target. However, when we got back after last week’s journey,  I was five pounds lighter than when I went.
Not good.
Not losing the weight, but losing so much in a matter of 3 days.

It has not been a good week, and the chocolate bars, biscuits and other sweet treats have amassed since our return so I am hoping to still be within my target parameters.
I am going through the motions of keeping my food diary, and with Hubby’s reflux issue worsening, we are down to two meals a day, plus a light snack of toast or bowl of cereal around 5pm. Not the best diet I know, but our main meal is sensible and a good balance.

We have both been recommended to have flu jabs again this year, and even after last year’s trip to hospital afterwards, are going ahead……………. despite the farce of arranging one.
We tried to book appointments last week, and were told to ring the surgery on Monday as they had run out of vaccine for the under 65s.
Hubby went up to the surgery today in a lot of pain so we tried again……… only to be told there are no clinics for the under 65s this week.
I tapped my rather-long-and-need-to-be-cut nails on the desk, said ‘Fine’ in a clipped tone and turned on my heel in disgust.
Hubby was still waiting to be seen in the Sit and Wait clinic.

We now have appointments with the local pharmacy on Wednesday morning.
The rub is the lady I saw to make them came into the doctor’s surgery to collect said vaccines for the week. I despair, but at least we are being sorted, even more intent on finding suitable ways to get medical help and bypassing our useless surgery.

I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Not sure if it’s the same in the UK, but last year in Canada they introduced a stronger flu shot for anyone over 65. It’s the same this year and I got a notification from my doctor’s office saying they now have the vaccine for over 65’s but anyone under 65 still has to wait. As for pharmacies, they don’t have the vaccines at all yet and if you’re 65+ you can’t get the shot at the pharmacy, you have to go to your doctor.

Annoying! I thought I was on the waiting list for the shingles vax, but they never called me. Now they’re on round 2 and I’ve missed out. All the round 1 shots are out of stock. This keeps happening! So, I’m back on the list. Ridiculous 🙄
