Welcome to Sarah’s Saturday Mix – Mad About Metaphor, 12 October 2019!
This week we are dipping our toes into the pool of METAPHOR. Our challenge is all about the use of metaphor in our writing. You will need to use the metaphor provided in your response – which can be poetry or prose.
Our metaphor this week is:
– Love is a battlefield.

Every time I see this, I hear Pat Benatar and see Jennifer Garner dancing on her bed with her girlfriends in the film 13 going on 30. It’s a great ‘coming of age’ film along the lines of BIG, and if you hire/buy a copy, it’s worth watching the out-takes.
Growing up, sibling love was definitely a battlefield as we were always bickering, arguing, squabbling and at one stage actually had a fight. I think you could say she lost and I discovered I had a temper which I was actually afraid of and had to learn to control.
I had a couple of instances of the boy of the moment having the attentions of someone else, but although it hurt, I let him decide and sort it out. The only confrontation over a man was with a work colleague years ago who accused me of ‘entertaining’ her husband whist she was out with one of her ‘admirers’ under the guise of being with me.
You can read about that here
These days Hubby and I are facing another kind of battlefield. Health issues are attacking us, but we’re coming out fighting. Love in our case is strength, not conflict.
And you will win this battle with flying colors too!
you can bet your ass on that Sadje!
😉🙏👏👏👏
That scene in that movie is iconic if you ask me.
Hi Tony! Good to hear from you. It’s a great movie, isn’t it.
