OK then. It’s a week since Mr Smart Man installed our new meters, so today was the first week’s readings to check that things weren’t going mad and our usage was being read correctly.
The electricity is spot on at 21 Kwh for 7 days, exactly where it should be, and constant.
It has been interesting to see what guzzles the electricity when used, but when most are short term, it’s not horrific!
The main culprits are the kettle, cooker, microwave and washing machine.
The kettle is always at the ready, but the cooker has proven to be a good buy and economic. When the (fan) oven is running, we slip into the red for high usage as expected. If I’m just using the rings, they creep up there too, BUT when I turn them down they behave themselves, and even with 2 going for rice and curry, the usage is reasonable.
The microwave does the red dance too, but our washing machine is brilliant and low usage apart from heating the water and on spin.
The gas usage is 6 M³ this week. We’ve had the heating on as it’s been quite chilly first thing in the morning, so I expected an increase from our Summer consumption of one and a half. In the winter, it’s around 22 to 25 a week.
All in all, I’m pleased anyway, and to be honest I don’t think we’re going to notice any difference, apart from our billing as we’re on a new tariff now which is slightly more expensive, but again the company reckon our current payments are sufficient to cover it.
Interesting how other countries do. I used to monitor online had 2 or 3 dollar days and 5 dollar on laundry day. Unable to monitor apartment
I’ve checked our meters since 2007 and thus knew what was eating the electricity, so I was a bit miffed at having to have smart meters to get a cheaper tariff.
Progress ha I know how that can be 😬😁
So far, so good. 🙂
