Flash Fiction for the Purposeful Practitioner: Week #40

Challenge set by Roger Shipp who says:

I would like to give a hearty welcome to all flash fiction aficionados. Welcome to the new Flash Fiction for the Purposeful Practitioner Home Site.

Flash Fiction for the Purposeful Practitioner is a weekly writing challenge designed for both the flash fiction newbie and the more experienced writer. It is the desire of this challenge to allow writers the opportunity to clear the cobwebs from a more tedious and involved project. Becoming a part of a new and growing writer’s community might be just what the doctor ordered to rejuvenate your writing juices.

Subject 22 sat back and look at their handiwork with satisfaction.
The brief had been memories of home and The Team were pleased with his response.
Speaking over the intercom, they congratulated him and dispensed the reward as was standard practice.
Eating his prize, Subject 22 began over colouring certain squares in his design.
His watchers believed they were seeing a patchwork quilt.
In truth it was an aerial memory of his homeland and its endless fields. The darker squares were those poisoned by chemicals and the beginning of the chain of events leading to the current status quo of thousands of patients with severe memory loss for no apparent reason.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
