The Daily Four : Game 2

Over to Rory for this challenge.

How important is your birth family to you?

Having lost Dad in 1996 and with Mum gone now, there is no need for me to visit Down South. Family there want nothing to do with me and even if I cared, have bad mouthed me to their friends and no doubt to each other. It hurt at first. A lot, but after Mum died, true colours came to the fore and my flogged horse died for the final time. I am indifferent now and if they deign to contact me, it will probably be to inform me that someone has died, and no, I wouldn’t be planning to attend a funeral. I may be a lot of things, but I’m not a hypocrite.
Other Brother only contacts me when his wife is out, so that is once in a pink moon, let alone blue, and it’s pitiful how the conversations are wrapped up as soon as he hears her key in the door. His reason is usually when he wants to know if I’ve had any contact from Down South which is laughable as he can read all about it on FB.
I’m not on it, neither do I want to be.
My family is in NZ, not that we are originally from there! Bro, now 75,  is the younger of my two brothers and has always looked out for me. He is the only one that matters to me now.

What gets too much attention in the news?

Has been Celebrities wanting to have sex with their former (same sex) band mates, the LGBTwhatever PC politics, BREXIT, which should have been done and dusted by now IMO, not to forget Prince and Princess Diva and babe.

If you could change 3 things about your country, what would you change?

Our politicians view of the less well off and force them into the real world of financial struggles, disability, age, health issues, and trying to make a life for themselves and their kids when they (TPTB) are so intent on cutbacks to the needy.

The NHS needs first aid to the Nth degree. Our health system sucks, especially where we live. If we had a second GP surgery that was run properly, it would make a helluva difference to the population being able to get to see a doctor when they needed one and not have to die at home before it’s believed to be an emergency.
Our emergency services are run ragged and calling 999 doesn’t result in aid within a sensible time frame.

Better support for our armed forces and veterans.

What fact amazes you every time you think of it?

That Hubby and I will be expected to survive on a joint income of less than the single person’s tax allowance should he lose his disability allowance. This is the kind of amazement we can do without, but after our caring government moved the goalposts in respect of retirement age, we now have to wait until 2021 and 2022 to qualify for a State Pension.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Was having the very same conversation with a taxi driver only today, put the politicians into the income that they say is survivable for a lengthy period of time, not a poxy week where they think it’s a game, but a good period like six months plus, then they will feel the so called governmental love.
