The Bluegrass Band at the County Fair were one of the better choices of entertainment from recent years. Many remembered the wobbly accordionist from two years ago who got so enthusiastic with his reel dance rendition, he fell off the stage much to the shocked exclaimation of the poor souls he landed on.
Admission was only two pounds, and all proceeds went to the Children’s Hospice charity.
Aunt Mabel had put entries in several of the baking competitions, and was particularly hopeful for her sticky toffee pudding. Last year, her neighbour had beaten her into second place with their Apple Pie so she came home with a blue ribbon rather than the coveted red rosette. This time, she had also entered some crinkle cookies, boasting a secret ingredient known only to herself, a tipple her husband hadn’t missed from his homebrew.
Uncle George on the other hand was getting ready to do his dance routine.
This was a new attraction, and he and the other farmers had been practicing for months. It wasn’t often you had twelve tractors going through their paces to Swan Lake.
As always, there were rides, games, candy floss and a carousel for kids, plus several refreshment tents had been set up to get out of the heat for a well earned cuppa or a pint.
Wow! This is an excellent take on the challenge.
Thank you!
A tractor ballet, how cool would that be…great response to the words Di.
Hi Michael. Memories of my Dad winning wine competitions at the New Forest Show every year and my sister never quite managing to better him!
My neighbor and I think we should win the local photography competition and one year we’ll do more than talk about it 😀
Go for it!
