Many thanks to Nekneeraj for hosting this challenge every week.

How he had managed to keep it a secret, he didn’t know, but now Geoff was thrilled and finally could show off his labours to his long suffering wife.
Leading her blindfold into the clearing, he whipped off the scarf and shouted
She was stunned.
It was beautiful, a work of art and as he excitedly led her inside, luxurious.
‘Now we can have holidays whenever and wherever we like!’ he said excitedly.
Norma smiled sadly.
‘Darling, it’s lovely and you’ve worked so hard, but you’ve forgotten one important thing.’
‘No, I don’t think so! It’s got a spacious lounge, fully fitted kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. All mod cons! I remembered everything you said you liked.’
‘I can see that. But do you remember the yacht you built in the back yard?’
‘That was an oversight. How was I to know they were going to sell off the land behind us and build that new estate blocking off my planned exit. It was one of the reasons we moved!’
‘Yes love, but this is different. You don’t know how to fly.’
‘I can take lessons. Look. I’ve just got to sign up here.’
‘There is also the matter of trying to take off……………………’

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. Looks like the time I once landed in the middle of Africa on the way to a South Africa – maybe we had a bit more runway.

  2. Haha. Lol. Poor Geoff. I guess in the excitement, he’d lost his common sense. But then again, he could try getting a chopper! Great take on the prompt, Do!

Oh, that is a funny one. 🙂 ❤

    • hehe. Hubby built a boat in our garage, and although he could get it out, we could never afford an engine for it. We also had no way of getting it to water so had no idea if it would float. It made a very nice three tier shelf for pot plants in the new garden when we moved.

heheh. Sounds like something I would build, actually. I’m thinking this new doll’s house might be right up that,”hmmmm, wonder if it will fit through the door” thing.

      • ha! That’s funny!! We have a big green waste bin advertising itself for hire for garden rubbish etc at a reasonable price. There is no way it would fit through our gate to get into the back garden!

This is just brilliant, I had a doctor who built a boat in his back garden, and he couldn’t get it out through his garage .
    Honest that is true..
It will take this guy years to clear a run way!

It is a strange place for an aircraft.
