The wrong kind of rain?

I have been having serious problems trying to post, view and comment on my blog today.
It took me over an hour to post my short Nest contribution what with time-outs, limited service, and disconnections. It was bad enough on the boat, but at least we knew it was likely. We thought on land it would be better, though we have had instances of people piggybacking on our signal. That’s to be expected I guess in the holiday season.

We’ve gone through the usual checks and channels, twiddled with buttons and plugs, and at least this time it was not just ME! Hubby was having problems too, so believing it was something to do with the weather, both of us gave up to do something else.

I’ve had an hour and a half at the keyboard, and boy was I rusty! Still it was nice to tinker, and my hands lasted out pretty well.

We were talking about food and meals yesterday as both of us are pretty fed up, if you’ll excuse the pun. Food is boring, no matter how hard I try to ring the changes or spice it up a bit. Shopping is the same and we did a little bit this morning, spending £13.
Our main meal today was simply beans on toast with an egg on top. What we’ll have later is anyone’s guess, but it won’t be hot as I’m only cooking once a day.
Despite the heavy rain through the night and until mid morning, it’s hot and muggy again. I feel like I’m walking in a sauna  or worse, I am a sauna.
Anyway, as an exercise, we listed the variety of main meals we have and were surprised to find at least 16.

Stew (lasts 3 days in the winter and all veg)
Chili and rice (2 days, second day for me with a jacket potato and veg rather than rice)
Chicken (either roast, curry or pineapple and ginger)
Pork chops (either roast or pineapple and ginger)
Jacket potato (with ham, cheese and mushroom gunge, or tuna and vegetables)
Macaroni cheese
Tomato pasta bake (with or without green beans, peppers or mushrooms)
Cauliflower cheese
Cottage pie
Spaghetti bolognese
Lasagna (either meat or vegetarian)
Pineapple and ginger sauce on its own with rice (one of our veggie options)
Poached eggs /beans on toast
Steak (treat recently and not that expensive for the amount we have)

though tomorrow we’re having gammon with ginger again.

We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

    I get bored with meals too. Sometimes I am so bored I just have cereal.

    • I’ve gone that way too Fransi and have it with yogurt rather than milk. However, I have to syn it, so have to be careful. Toast is also a good standby (love bananas on it) but again I have to syn it.
      Hubby has cereal or rice pudding in the afternoons if he doesn’t fancy crackers or a sandwich.

    Internet can be totally frustrating at times and so is meal planning.

  4. Sometimes I’m just not in the mood for any food. I get hungry but I don’t want to decide what or make it! Heat does that to a person.

    • That’s the problem. The heat is getting to us all and affecting our appetites, then we tend to pick at the wrong things. Not good..

      • I get that. I eat more fruit which sounds healthy but too much of anything is too much.

      • I found that out too, loads of bananas, grapes and blueberries, the latter of which weren’t considered speed fruit at the time. I’m trying to get a better balance, and rarely buy them or raspberries now unless frozen as it was just too expensive.
