A Time to Write scene setter from Rachel Poli this week.
It’s Friday. The same as any other day at home, we might just vary the routine a bit.
Priority is the dog and breakfast, in that order actually, then housework chores before settling at the computer or going out.
Home is a modest bungalow, our lounge being at the front of the property compared to many at the back, so we get to see people and their dogs/children walking by.
If we’re working in the front garden, we’ll stop what we’re doing and pass the time of day. We’ve got to know a lot of people by sight, and a lot of dogs by name but you can keep the kids LOL.
Our time is our own as we are both retired from work though not classed as pensioners by the State yet, so free to come and go as the mood takes us to walk in the park or along the beach. On wet days, we’ll start blogging early unless we have shopping to do, then we come back with something naughty but nice as a treat.
We have no TV, though Hubby is content to watch the old B&W movies on Youtube. We do have a DVD player and wide selection of DVDs to watch, and bought a dual pack of The Kingsmen a little while ago.
I don’t read as much as I used to, not even at bedtime now, and not sure whether that’s because I’ve lost interest or haven’t found any book or author recently to hold my attention. Both of us have suddenly rediscovered crossword puzzles and wordsearches though, so one of us will start one and the other finishes it!
I have my music and card making, and sometimes put on a CD that I can sing along to as I put sticky tape to paper to card and adornments. I get a lot of pleasure out of making them, though these days I don’t have that many to send out. I intend to make some Letter Cards up so that when I write to friends I can send my words out on something pretty.
My Christmas Cards are waiting in readiness though having made them over three sessions because my hands were getting stiff with all the fiddly bits.
It’s nice to put our feet up and listen to music or pay Scrabble sometimes, and the other night I was watching some clips of Olympic ice skating for well over an hour which was totally awesome.
Home is where the heart is, but for us Home is wherever we are all together.
