FOWC with Fandango — Repercussions

Fandango has given us Repercussions as our word prompt today.
I’m going with knock on effects of greed.

The skip driver was doing OK with his sideline. The company didn’t know that every time he filled up the truck with fuel he was also filling two jerry cans for himself, nor that for every two skips hired officially he was hiring out another to his friends or someone else at a discounted price which he was pocketing.
He got away with it for about 18 months, then was called into the office.
He was told that they were doing away with their skip hire as it wasn’t paying and due to the economic climate, they were making cutbacks. He was thus made redundant but was actually lucky he wasn’t fired and prosecuted.
When moaning about it to his drinking chums, he could not see that it was the repercussions of his actions that had put him out of a job.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Good one! People seldom acknowledge the consequences of their own actions.
