Darts tonight and we got well and truly hammered 12 points to 2. I did manage to get one of the two winning doubles though, and the blister on my thumb didn’t get in the way at all.
We drove up and there was a power cut, so we couldn’t have our practice games as there were no lights at the boards. In light (excuse pun) of my recent state of play, this probably would have made no difference anyway, but we got the power back in good time to begin the match on time.
There were apparently four County players in the opposing team. Why they wanted to join our little league is beyond me, but there you go. We all need practice I suppose.
A neighbour was playing pool with another guy who lost and left, so Hubby had a couple of games with him.
It was so nice for him to have a social evening and doing something different. He won one game, and was chinning with our neighbour for a good hour after our match started. However, his legs hurt so he took one of his bombs and thus couldn’t drive so had to wait for me. Maggie was really good, though when my game started and she couldn’t see me, she started to whine.
It doesn’t help Hubby sitting or standing for too long, so it was decided he would walk back with our neighbour and I’d drive myself home. We only had the one set of keys, so he took the door key and left me the rest.
I’m useless at pool. I’ve played a few games and I’m lucky to hit any ball, let alone a second with the white, but I’m really pleased he had some fun tonight, hence my post title.
There is a lot of unrest in the ranks with the darts team for a variety of reasons, and our captain has said he won’t be captain next summer, though he will still play. He asked if I’d like to take over and I told him I didn’t think I would be playing next Summer anyway.
The ladies Winter league starts in a few weeks and I’m looking forward to that. It seems we have got a full team of 6 now, so everyone will get a game every week. Win or lose it’s a night out and we enjoy it. We have a laugh and some fun which to me is what it’s all about.
12-2? Oh dear. Better than to 0 I suppose, but it seems as though it is back to the drawing (dart) board!
I did get a finishing double though, so one of those points were mine. Hurrah!!!!
glad you had a good night! it sounds like a laugh! All I know about darts, is what I saw on bullseye! remember bullseye? the tv show?
I remember the show very well. Sadly Jim Bowen is no longer with us. I met Mike Gregory as I was living in Bath when he started and he lived about 7 miles away.
