Twenty five years ago, it was hailed as a masterpiece of engineering.
The construction teams couldn’t wait to get started and it would save thousands in transport costs.
Twenty years ago when it was finally completed, it was an embarrassment until some bright spark in Tourism came up with an ingenious strategy.
‘We’ll modify the entrance with twin arches, one entering into the tunnel, and the other for marketing and souvenirs.
In time, people will accept that it was originally designed that way, and not a miscalculation from the other side that didn’t line up as it should have done’.
