Darts result 18 June

I am pleased to say we all played slightly better than last week and I heard a few grumbles about what a shambles the organisation of the mixed pairs were, so it wasn’t just us.

It was the last match of the first round and we were at home tonight.
Our first pair lost 3 games to nil, despite having two of the highest scores of the night in the same game. They simply could not get their finishing double, which happens to us all.
I played next with a guy I’ve been partnered with before. We usually compliment each other and tonight was no exception, with us winning our games 3 nil, bringing us level.
I got one of the finishing doubles, so was quite pleased I didn’t fluff it!
Our next pair lost 2 games to 1, as did our final pair, and double 3 (or the lack of it) haunted our side all night.

We broke for the sandwiches supper (yes I had a couple), then the ladies played 701 down in the gallon. We did OK, and won our game bringing the score to 7 games to 6.
It was down to the lads 1001 gallon to make it a draw, and they were DREADFUL with several darts not hitting the scoring zone at all!
The other side were racking up the treble 20s, and our side was 380 points behind at one stage. The opposition were down to double 6 whilst our lads were still plodding down in totals of 20s, 30s, and an occasional 60 in the 200s.
Someone knocked a glass of beer flying, and with it, their chances. Concentration was lost, and they could not get their finish, ending up on the dreaded double 1 as our boys limped below 100, and suddenly they needed a finishing double and GOT IT!

Result, 7 each, and not a bad night at all.

I’ve changed tactics and now going for 14s and 11s, hitting a treble of either practically every time.  I played pretty well tonight with no fines (scores of 20 or under) so the games at home are still paying off.

Round Two starts next week, and we’re ‘home’ for that to our second team, then the following week another home match, then a bye.

Time for us to be putting out feelers for the ladies Winter league soon.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
