There was a lull in their timetable, and Elsa jumped at the freedom to view original artwork rather than the set pieces of boring fruit or flowers which tended to stymie her imagination.
Using a graphite pencil, she visualized and then sketched a pair of clasped hands, and rather than present them as a nebulated piece, shaded various areas to suggest depth, age and texture.
She basked in the warm caress of praise from the art tutor, totally unaware of the hatred festering in the heart of another student who had previously been the centre of attention.
