For this week’s Lucky Dip, Sarah has reached into her mystery bag and pulled out a Cascade.

Cascade, a form created by Udit Bhatia, is all about receptiveness, but in a smooth cascading way like a waterfall. The poem does not have any rhyme scheme; therefore, the layout is simple. Say the first verse has three lines. Line one of verse one becomes the last line of verse two. To follow in suit, the second line of verse one becomes the last line of verse three. The third line of verse one now becomes the last line of verse four, the last stanza of the poem. See the structure example below:
a/b/c, d/e/A, f/g/B, h/i/C
I’ve never written one of these before, so being something new, I thought I’d have a go.
I’ve given mine four lines, so there are five verses. Hope it’s up to standard!
Rain kisses roses,
Bees drink from petals,
Busy colours vibrate,
Nature in full glory.
Clouds cry in passing,
Jewels glisten,
Rainbows dance as
Rain kisses roses.
Birds sing in chorus,
Wings flutter gladly,
Nectar sweet as honey,
Bees drink from petals.
Everything is alive,
Fresh, crisp and open,
All aquiver and providing,
Busy colours vibrate.
Humble humans witness
Simplicity and purpose,
Appreciate and wonder,
Nature in full glory.
This is great.
Thanks Gary………….. my first!

Thank you Beckie. This was a first for me.
You’re kidding? This was piece was so moving… You have to continue to allow your heart flow like this more often! 💗
Inspired by our walk home this afternoon.
I’m hoping to find that kind of inspiration sometime over the weekend.
It’s definitely out there
You have the heart of a poet, Di. I love your cascade on the beauty of nature.
Thanks Jade. I’ve never written a cascade poem before and may well do another later.
You’re a natural for it, and I hope you do.
You are very kind Jade.
I’m not really that kind, but I call them as I see them.
🙂
Wonderful! Well done 😊
Thanks Sarah. Definitely something new for me to experiment with!
