Thursday Photo Prompt Part 2: Choices

This is the second part of Sue’s two week challenge from June 6th

For my second choice, I’ve gone with this photo:

The monochrome image shows the base of a tree with a hole, like a doorway, through its base…
The wind in the trees seemed to beckon ‘Come closer. ‘
Naomi stood a little distance to the left, peering as best she could through the cavity in the trunk.
She was small enough to slip through, but something didn’t seem quite right.
To her right, the trunk looked like a giant hand, fingers resting on the ground ready to welcome her, or perhaps push her into the beyond.
‘Come closer,’ the wind whispered slightly louder than before, yet there was no disturbance to suggest an oncoming storm.
Naomi took a tentative step forward.
A rabbit hopped across her path towards the tree and its gaping trunk.
It bounced contentedly, scutt bobbing up and down as it passed through the hole.
She looked to see where it had gone, but there was no rabbit on the other side.
‘Maybe I’ll just walk around,’ she said aloud, doing just that and not looking back.
If she had, she would have seen the rabbit watching her from inside the trunk chewing on the deliciously sweet grass within.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! Due to a nightmare of a house sale in 2014, 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat until April 2017. We made strong friendships both on and off the water, and enjoyed swan and duck families for neighbours. Sadly times change and we now reside in a small bungalow a short distance from the beach on the Lincolnshire coast.
