Song Lyric Sunday: 26th May

This week, Jim has given us
May 26, 2019 – Cool/Groovy/Hip/Nifty/Radical/Swell

I’ve chosen this by The Turtles from 1968. I was 12.

It was on the soundtrack of the 2009 film The Boat that Rocked, a story of pirate radio and good music.

You got a thing about you
I just can’t live without you
I really want you Elenore near me
Your looks intoxicate me
Even though your folks hate me
There’s no one like you Elenore really

Elenore gee I think you’re swell
And you really do me well
You’re my pride and joy et cetera
Elenore can I take the time
To ask you to speak your mind
Tell me that you love me better

I really think you’re groovy
Let’s go out to a movie
What do ya say now, Elenore can we?
They’ll turn the lights way down low
Maybe we won’t watch the show
I think I love you, Elenore, love me

Elenore, gee I think you’re swell
And you really do me well
You’re my pride and joy, et cetera
Elenore, can I take the time
To ask you to speak your mind?
Tell me that you love me better

One more time!

Elenore, gee I think you’re swell, ah-hah
Elenore, gee I think you’re swell, ah-hah-
Hah

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. Were they Happy Together? Thanks for the ’60’s oldie. I’m a few years younger than you so I don’t remember those days, but I have quite an interest in ’60’s music

    • It was the best Larry………. Motown, Stones, Supremes, Gary Puckett, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Tremeloes, Dave Clark Five, but a lot of those names are no longer with us.
There is some good music and artists around today, but nothing like in my teens.

  2. I love the contrast in this song as it switches from dark to happy.

Turtle-ly fabulous. One is glad they came out of their shells for this one.
