Here’s a twist on the X Factor, or should I say, EX?

Before my divorce, an acquaintance from school who had returned to this country with her new husband notified me of a job going in her office.
Thus we worked for the same company but not in the same department.
I felt sorry for her husband and as she was meeting up with other friends, invited him over for a meal one evening.
We had a very pleasant visit and he left a happy man.
On Monday morning, I was taken to task in front of everyone in the office for entertaining her husband without her. He had apparently believed it would be a guys night as his wife and I were out together, as we did several times a week. This was obviously news to me.
The omitting factor in her rantings was that I was supposed to be her alibi for her dalliances with no less than three other guys.
Cue Ex husband and Ex friend.
‘Oh what a tangled web . . .’

Must have been an unpleasant experience
I stood my ground in the office and said quietly that if she was going to use people like that, the least she could do is tell them.
That was the thing to do.
