Friday Foto Flash Fiction

This is a new challenge from DB McNichol which I thought I’d check out.

So much for a short cut.
Short of breath, her feet hurt, her back ached, and her legs were growing stiffer by the step.
The cobbled pathway didn’t help as every so often her stick would lose traction on the surface and she was lucky she didn’t fall.
It was a relief to see a chair up ahead, and gratefully she sank into it.
‘Oi! What do you think you’re doing?’ came a gruff voice from inside the cottage.
The old man who came bustling out was ready to give her a right talking to, but stopped dead in his tracks.
‘Edie?’ he asked tentatively.
She turned and pushed her glasses up her nose to focus on the speaker.
‘Joshua! What a surprise! I didn’t know you lived here. How long has it been?’
‘At least forty years! Come in. Come in! I’ll make tea! How wonderful……….’

Six months later their respective children and their families were all smiles as they posed for photographs with the bride and groom, the new Mr and Mrs Joshua Joiner.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
