Stressed about Desserts

Did you realise that stressed is desserts spelt backwards?
I have never lied about having a sweet tooth, so trying to lose weight and satisfy it can be a pain in the butt.
What I like about SW is that you can have anything you want, but if it’s the yummy, sticky, chocolaty, or sweet candy stuff, it always comes at a cost. Of course it also depends whether you really want to lose those extra pounds or not.
If you plan ahead, you can have the occasional ‘slip’ and it won’t reflect too much, but I’ve been thinking about what one of the new ladies asked last week in group about being allowed to accumulate your syns so that you could have a BIG treat! Technically, the answer isΒ  ‘No, you shouldn’t’ but we’re all human and hate to drool in public.
It came about as she had been to lunch with her Weight Watcher friends (and we had aΒ  good laugh when she told us) who were all tucking into a divine looking cheesecake, whereas she had a sorbet. I’ve been trying to think back to my attempt with WW pre 1996 and if you could ‘save your points’ so that you could indulge.
I can’t honestly remember, and it never worked for me anyway.

Tomorrow, we are having a tasting session at group and the last time I took something, it was totally wrong for the purpose as it
a) wasn’t slimming food
b) wasn’t a SW recipe or product and
c) I had no idea how many syns each one had.
(I’d taken in a packet of florentine biscuits, oops)

Remembering what I did for my birthday with that chocolate caramel
I am thinking about fruit-on-sticks with a fat free yoghurt dip.
I finally managed to buy some cocktail sticks today………. none of the supermarkets or shops here sell them!!!
My plan is to cut up cereal bars that are allowed as healthy options or have a low syn value and top them with pieces of fruit to dunk.
OK, it’s not very exciting, but when you think that a cereal bar is gone in two bites (maybe three if you’re a dainty eater or have toothache), cutting each into four and adding fruit gives you a treat, or several, at less than one syn each!
We shall see how it works and I’ll post a picture tomorrow.

I have been exceptionally good with my syns for the last few days and fancied a dessert today.
I used one of SW Millionaire Shortcakes (they are DELICIOUS, have real chocolate chips on the top and have 3 syns each) and cut it up into seven small pieces. I put that in the bottom of my bowl, added 6 grapes cut in half, 6 raspberries, a dozen blueberries and two large strawberries cut into six.
I topped that with fat free vanilla yoghurt and a sprinkle of granola.
You couldn’t see the cereal bar, but it was a nice surprise to find this lovely sticky chewy confection amid the fruit, and the tastebuds went into orbit. Yum!!
Total syns for the lot, 5!

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
