Sunday Writing Prompt “5 by 5” : 12th May

I love these! Five headings and five choices in each. You can check them all out here:
Do pop over to MLMM and have a go, they are such fun!!
Droll the Troll was not his usual self.
Here he was in his fifties, or that’s what it was in Human Years (he was actually four hundred and nine) and his world had unmistakeably been turned upside down.
Everything was suddenly beautiful, even himself!
And that was scary.

He’d always had a liking for the occasional tipple, and had started making his own brews decades ago, but something had somehow slipped into the mix of his elderberry wine, and his feet had taken wings.
Whereas before he would trudge between points A and B, now he would skip gaily, or even dance through the streets, not giving a hoot who was watching, wondering, and probably laughing at him.

It just wasn’t done for a Troll of his callibre to be cheerful! He and his kind were supposed to be cruel, unkind, blinkered and bothersome, not having a good word to say about anybody, and if they could stir up hurt or trouble, he was normally the first in line.
But he’d tossed all that out on its ear and become a reformed character, tender, loving, docile and considerate!

Oh course it was all HER fault, but even simply thinking of her caused his heart to swell, and his mouth to curve into a smile.
He’d found her by the river, fighting for her life having been thrown in by some louts who would give even Trolls a bad name. Unthinking, he had waded in to save her, then one look into those big brown eyes and he was lost.
She showed her gratitude by licking his face and snuggling into his body, even though she was nothing more than a soaking wet and bedraggled scrap.

Droll called her Lolly. He had no idea what breed of dog she was, but she was as cute as a button and he swore there and then that he would protect her forever.

My choices were:

Pick a Mythological Creature : Troll
Pick an Activity: Dancing
Pick a Fruit:  Elderberry
Pick a Time of Life:  Middle Age
Pick a Concern: Finding Love

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
