Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge #10

So now it’s time for the tenth weekly Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge. The image below is from Mrs-White at
They walked together hand in hand,
Each glad to have found the other.
No words were spoken, they both assumed
They were lost sister and brother.
The masks withheld their identity,
Two people who were in fact strangers,
Searching for shelter in the aftermath,
On alert for potential dangers.
He guided her, she held on to him,
Found a safe place that would do,
Removed the masks and exclaimed in shock
Both saying ‘I do not know you!’
Embarrassed, they introduced themselves
Made plans for their next steps,
Then curled together under gloomy skies
The sole survivors slept.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! Due to a nightmare of a house sale in 2014, 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat until April 2017. We made strong friendships both on and off the water, and enjoyed swan and duck families for neighbours. Sadly times change and we now reside in a small bungalow a short distance from the beach on the Lincolnshire coast.
