Space………. the final steps

We went into Skeg today to pick up some storage boxes for the kitchen cupboards and had a good sort out.
O M G…………. did we really have that much?
The problem with two corner cupboards is that so much gets pushed to the back that we can’t see or reach, so with everything empty, we had the opportunity to have a good sort out. It was quite surprising what we found, and even more so how much space we have now that everything has been sorted out and arranged.

I bought four containers, two for each shelf in the left hand cupboard under the sink.
The other houses our store of UHT milk which we buy in bulk, our little sewing machine, a box of stock toiletries, the toaster, plus our sewing and first aid kits.
I’ve also sorted out the drawers, using a couple of shallow trays for odds and ends so that nothing is actually rattling around. Maggie’s doggie cupboard is still in the same place, as she keeps reminding us, as is the cereal and pan cupboards. Those on the wall were untouched.
I just cannot believe how much space we have, and it will be so much easier to find things.

    I find storage boxes make a huge difference.

    • We used washing up bowls on the boat as the shelves were so shallow, but at least we were able to find everything! I like things to be tidy, even where it can;t be seen.

        My desk is chaotic but I do like an organized kitchen and bathroom.

      • I could never work in a muddle either in the bank or an office. My desk was cluttered, but it was my organised chaos and I knew where everything was!

        I know where everything is too. When I worked full time in ad agencies it drove me mad when the building cleaners would move stuff around. In their defence, they did have to clean, but I’d be so frustrated at having to spend time sorting through everything and putting it back like I’d had it.

      • yep. If I was working on something in particular, I used to leave a note for the cleaners asking them not to move anything. Working late so often in my new role, I got the know them all pretty well, so I didn’t have a problem.

        That’s a really good idea. I wish I’d thought of that.

      • I was analysing figures from a 600 to 1000 page printed report with strict deadlines to meet. I loved my job but sometimes I had to leave something half finished until the following day.

        I understand. I was also working to very tight deadlines and also worked long hours and sometimes had to leave before my projects were finished. I didn’t have pages and pages of figures but I did have pages and pages of briefs and research.

      • Yours were way more complicated than mine. I already had the answers, I just had to split them out.

        What wasn’t complicated for you would have caused me no end of grief. I am hopeless with numbers.

    I hate you. That is to say, I hate people who successfully complete the job of ordering their belongings when I seem to take two steps backwards for each one forward.

    • No choice actually, as everything had overflowed into the lounge and we had to sort it out as there was practically nowhere to sit and relax! At least I found my packet of washing sponges…………. or three.
