Tuesday Photo Challenge – Worship

The fire at Notre Dame Cathedral is indeed devastating, and Frank has chosen worship for his theme this week.

I am not particularly religious, but believe in something greater than all of us.
I love to sing the traditional hymns to the traditional music of my childhood, some of which I don’t need to see the written words as I know them by heart.

I don’t know exactly when it started, probably in Milan when I was in Europe on a business trip, but I now light a candle for my parents, FIL, and friends that have departed this world for the next.
It’s a personal thing, respect for the dead, and if they can see me from the afterlife, to know we are thinking of them.
I don’t think you have to go to church to pray, and have never forgotten the sense of peace I felt in the early hours one morning as I sat at my electronic piano with the headphones on playing hymns. I felt as though someone was there beside me, bringing me comfort and strength to do what I knew had to be done.

What was so wonderful about The Abbey when we were on the boat was that we could take Maggie in. It was a beautiful place and we lit many candles there.

In Boston, we have learnt recently that dogs are allowed inside, and as we had brought Mum here several times when she visited, we light candles for her and the Dads here too.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! Due to a nightmare of a house sale in 2014, 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat until April 2017. We made strong friendships both on and off the water, and enjoyed swan and duck families for neighbours. Sadly times change and we now reside in a small bungalow a short distance from the beach on the Lincolnshire coast.
