Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “lip.” Use it as a word, or find a word with “lip”in it. As always, use any way you’d like. Enjoy!
Thoughts come to mind of ‘The Trout Pout’.
I fail to see how anyone with a fat lip (or two) by choice could be considered attractive, but then that’s what makes us all unique isn’t it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder or in this case, the lip.
I also remember a joke about a mother who licked her son’s face and stuck him to the window. Today I guess that kind of humour would be in bad taste, but it was funny at the time.
Often harassed parents would say to cheeky children
‘Enough of your lip!’
though that never happened to me of course 😉 😉
And what about those giving lip service to others to ‘keep in’ with their superiors, keep their jobs, or work on their knighthoods?
My favourite though is the bucket with attitude.
It’ll cost you a pound, is bright orange, and has a lip!

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes!
In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too.
On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts.
From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives.
We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
Haha😂😃
Excellent thoughts, you never gave your parents any lip? Really 😀💜💜💜
LOL of course I did, but I don;t think it was much!
Of course not, neither do I 💜
🙂
Great use of the prompt word.
Thanks Roberta
Fish lips are the funniest thing ever. I often wonder the purpose of them…
I’d go along with that
Your story reminded me of this particle joke that I heard .
Tell someone you can pin a glass of water to the wall — a real glass, not a paper cup, using an ordinary straight pin. Naturally they won’t believe, so you set out to prove it.
Get a glass of water and a pin. Hold the glass up to the wall and start to pin it up. And then drop the pin. You’ve got the glass in position just right, so you ask your victim real nice to get the pin for you. When they bend down to pick it up, dump the water on their head.
“The trout pout” is a new one on me but such a funny visual! Nice job with this week’s prompt. 🙂
Thanks Laura. I think the terminology was used in the tabloids, so I can’t claim originality!
