Out of the three choices, I’ve picked this:
Harry was excited when he saw the gaily wrapped package from his Grandfather and couldn’t wait to open it. He’d been hinting for weeks about a new tablet and was confident he’d be the envy of his friends.
As was the norm though, no presents were opened until after dinner when all the washing up had been done and cleared away.
Harry decided to leave his Grandfather’s gift to last.
He’d done very well with some new clothes, a book he’d particularly wanted and some cash from distant relatives.
Grinning, he opened the final parcel and his face fell.
His Grandfather looked embarrassed and said
‘I thought it a little odd that this was what you wanted. It took me ages but I finally found one in the antiques shop on the High Street. It wasn’t cheap either, so you’d better look after it.’
Harry’s parents looked on to see what their son’s reaction would be to hide his disappointment.
Mustering a weak smile, Harry kissed the old man on the cheek and said
‘Thanks Gramps. At least I won’t have to worry about plugging it in.’
