Preparing for a visitor.

As mentioned previously, my SIL is doing a detour from Kings Lynn and coming to see us. I’m really excited!
When I went over to see Bro in 2010, she was marvellous and took me to loads of places in her beautiful country so that I got to see as much as possible. She was better than any travel guide, and I had a wonderful time.

The last time she was over was in 2014 and she had kindly offered to bring Mum up to us for a holiday as Mum couldn’t travel on the coach any more, but we had to put her off as we were in the middle of selling the cottage. As it turned out, the selected day for their aborted arrival was actually the day we moved out.

My memory isn’t what it was and I think we got down to see her last time as we all met at my sister’s and I recall a ‘photo shoot’ out back with us three girls and Mum.
SIL hires a car and travels hundreds of miles to see family and friends who are still living here in the UK. She’s always loved to drive, so this is her kind of holiday.
I’ve prepared a chicken curry for her arrival with naan bread and popadoms waiting in the wings. I have no idea what time she will get here but wanted to have something hot and not overpowering as we’ll be eating later than usual and I’m trying to make sure Hubby doesn’t suffer.
I’ve got the base for cheesecake in the fridge and bought some strawberries to go on the top. SIL’s brother-in-law makes the most divine cheesecake and does all the cooking in their house. I don’t think mine is a patch on his, but hopefully she will enjoy it.

It’s turned out to be a lovely day and I’ve got the washing out on the line. All being well we’ll all walk the dog later and she can enjoy our beach and park. She’s staying over tonight, but we’ve offered for her to stay as long as she wishes, though I understand perfectly that she has a lot of people to see and a long journey back to base in Poole.
It will just be great to catch up with her news!

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
