Bottoms Up

We suffered another defeat tonight, nine points to three, and any award for bottom of the league is in the bag.
The Home Team were the current league leaders, and no-one can touch them, but it was a shame as the result didn’t give justice to the way the girls played tonight.
It’s our last match next week, then it will be the Summer League where we play mixed teams of four men and four women, and I was asked if I’d like to play. I said I would but I didn’t want to be Captain, though I don’t mind if they want me to be Captain for the Winter league again.
I had some furry company for most of the evening as there are two dogs at the venue.
One is a labradoodle and the other is a shepherdoo (german shepherd X poodle). They are both totally gorgeous and lay at my feet during play.
Supper tonight was a delicious pasta bake, so I was glad I hadn’t had anything to eat before I came out.
Might be nice to win our final game, but as long as the girls have a good night and a few laughs, it’s not the be all and end all of play.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Oh dear. Nice about the furry companions though

The arrow-flinging skill seems to be on a down-cycle? Not long ago you were sweeping all before you.

    • It’s the way it goes. I won my singles game, but sadly the other girls all lost theirs, and we only won one match in the pairs. No problem. There has been a plus side in that at least this year we’ve had a full team every week except 1! Last year, we were always at least one short, but mostly two, so had lost 4 points before we even started.
Would be nice to finish the season on a win though.

You can’t win ’em all, right?
    Yeah, I got nothin’…
