FOWC with Fandango — Opening

Our word today is Opening.

There was unrest in the office.
One member of staff believed someone was after their job, and another couldn’t give a flying fig about meeting company deadlines.
The two of them would whinge and whine to each other about everyone else, and tempers started to fray, especially at management level.
A piece of confidential paper was seen by eyes that should not be privvy, and the annotations thereon led to gossip and a firing.
The other took umbrage, and became even more lackadaisical in their approach, believing themselves to be indispensable to the company.
Someone sitting on the sidelines took everything on board, and seeing an opening for potential promotion, expressed an interest in the vacated position.
They got more than they bargained for when the second member of staff was fired for misconduct, and they were offered the position previously held by both.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! Due to a nightmare of a house sale in 2014, 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat until April 2017. We made strong friendships both on and off the water, and enjoyed swan and duck families for neighbours. Sadly times change and we now reside in a small bungalow a short distance from the beach on the Lincolnshire coast.
