This week February 24, 2019, Jim give us the theme of Harmony/Melody/Music

I enjoy music, decent music, not the loud noise blasting my eardrums from passing cars which chances are would remain stationery without the bass vibrations giving them forward propulsion.
Westlife, The Spice Girls, Il Divo, Backstreet Boys, Beach Boys, all groups with fabulous harmonies and melodious music.
I’m going back a bit now, but does anyone remember this?
It was one of many singles I bought as a teenager and played to death.

Move in a Little Closer Baby:
Songwriters: O’Connor, Capitanelli
Recorded by Harmony Grass in 1968 and peaked at No 24 in the UK charts in January 1969. The B Side was ‘Happiness is Toy Shaped’.
It was also a hit for Mama Cass Elliott in 1969
When your world’s closing in
And there’s no place to hide
And you’re needing a friend
To be there, at your side
Send a message to me
I’ll arrive and you’ll see
Whether you’re right or wrong
This is where you belong
Give it a try and you’ll see
Move in a little closer, baby
You’ve got to keep me closer, baby
Come in a little closer, baby
Together, we can make it happen
Wait and see
When your troubles arrive
Pouring down from the sky
And you’re feeling the down
You don’t know what to do
Give a holler to me
I’m the one that you need
Reach for my helping hand
Then you will understand
How simplified it can be
Move in a little closer, baby
You’ve got to keep me closer, baby
Come in a little closer, baby
Together, we can make it happen
Wait and see
Move in a little closer, baby
You’ve got to keep me closer, baby
Come in a little closer, baby
Together, we can make it happen
Wait and see
Move in a little closer, baby
You’ve got to keep me closer, baby
Come in a little closer, baby …

I don’t think I’ve heard this one before. It’s kinda nice.
Mama Cass’s version didn’t get that high in the charts, and this one didn’t get that much airplay, but it was 1968/9 so a bit before your time. I liked the harmonies and tempo. It was good to dust to!
I remember the chorus, not so much the between bits.
I remember them all………………… sigh
Love love …they don’t write songs like this anymore….. Did I just say that ??? ❤️
It really reminds me of the 60s and I love the vocal harmonies and the drumming. I never heard this song or this group, but I did enjoy listening to it.
Thanks Jim. Seems this isn’t very familiar to a lot of readers.
I was 12-13 in ’68-’69, and have never heard it before, either the Harmony Grass or the Mama Cass version. Mama Cass’s version only reached #58, which could explain that. I kind of like her cover better, but it’s a great song and I know what it’s like to buy a record, take it home and play the grooves off of it. Great choice!
Thanks John. I was born in ’56 too.
Good song!
Thanks!
Why haven’t I heard of this? It’s a great choice Di and it has nice harmonies. 💕🙂
It’s an old favourite.
I just don’t remember it! 😕 Thanks for sharing Di
You’re welcome.
