We did the laundry today and while I was up at the launderette getting it dry, Hubby said he would loosen all the housing screws and everything in readiness for delivery of the new fridge freezer tomorrow.
Hm. Bless him, he does so like to get on and with me out of the way, had a free field.
Half an hour later I came home to find the integral fridge freezer in the hall and him putting a plug on it so that he could plug it back in. As it was fitted and the power switch above the counter top, there was no plug, just the wiring going directly into a chocolate box hanging off the wall, the live of which was slightly exposed. Worrying, but now sorted.
Together, we got the housing apart, which is in pieces in the back garden ready to be cut up and taken down the tip at a later date.
The wall behind the unit is as we expected virgin plaster, so we have been up to the paint shop armed with part of the unit that had paint on it to try and get a pretty good match so that we can paint over the existing colour.
Did I say we had decided on paint when we decorated?
We’re doing the kitchen by the way. Or at least the decorating part as the worktops will be replaced next month.
Did I mention tiling?
Looking closely at the existing tiles, they are better than we thought, so Hubby is confident he can get the tatty grout out and redo it when we do the worktop and plumbing.
We are firm believers of ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’, neither do we replace things that are perfectly good on a whim. We can’t afford to.
