Jim has given us Ocean/Sea/Lake/Bay as our theme this week.

Shall I go with something by Billy Ocean, or Emerson, Lake and Palmer perhaps?
Nah.
Gotta be the Big O and Blue Bayou. from 1963, although Linda Rondstat had a massive hit with it in 1977.

“Blue Bayou”

I feel so bad I’ve got a worried mind
I’m so lonesome all the time
Since I left my baby behind on Blue BayouSaving nickels, saving dimes, working ’till the sun don’t shine
Looking forward to happier times on Blue Bayou
I’m going back some day come what may to Blue Bayou
Where you sleep all day and the catfish play on Blue BayouAll those fishing boats with their sails afloat If I could only see
That familiar sunrise through sleepy eyes, how happy I’d be

Go to see my baby again
And to be with some of my friends
Maybe I’d be happy then on Blue Bayou

I’m going back some day, gonna stay on Blue Bayou
Where the folks are fine and the world is mine on Blue Bayou
Oh, that girl of mine by my side the silver moon and the evening tide
Oh, some sweet day gonna take away this hurtin’ inside
I’ll never be blue, my dreams come true on Blue Bayou

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. Great song, but when Roy sings, “All those fishing boats with their sails afloat If I could only see”, I think he should take off those dark sunglasses as nobody could see very good wearing them.

  2. Mary B says:

One of my favorite Orbison songs. Thank you for sharing it today.
