Saturday Mix: 2019 version

Sarah has made some changes and the 2019 Saturday Mix rotation will be:

WEEK 1 – Mad About Metaphor
WEEK 2 – Unique Personality
WEEK 3 – Sound Bite
WEEK 4 – Lucky Dip

This week we are hearing things as we explore the use of ONOMATOPOEIA.

Our three words, using onomatopoeia are:

  • bang
  • clank
  • glug

I was hopeless with onomatopoeia at school, and the teachers ridiculed me for it.
Sometimes I felt like leaving class and slamming the door with a resounding BANG, but they were on those special door closers.
Come cookery class, my bag would CLANK with the tins of ingredients as Mum didn’t have any of those delightful tupperware type containers, so that was another reason for staff to have a go.
I had the last laugh though (but no praise at all) when I was the only student to melt chocolate perfectly. A lot of attempts went down the sink with a satisfying GLUG.

How did I do Sarah? Do I get a pass or a fail?

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
