My turn today and I’ve put forward COMPANIONSHIP.
I’ve never actually lived on my own, not even when I was divorced or when the following relationship failed, so I can’t speak from experience on that.
However, I know of several people who do and most have pets for companionship. I can understand that, as the thought of someone waiting for you when you get home is very warming.
I can remember seeing ads in the paper for companions, someone to share theatre visits, outings, meals out, holidays, and I suppose in a way Hubby’s ad all those years ago was similar as he had grown tired of the odd looks when asking for a table for one, purchasing a single cinema ticket, or going into a pub alone.
Both of us were coming out of sour relationships and just wanted friendship and companionship without the hassle of anything else.
Who could have foreseen where it would lead?
He’s my best friend, companion, husband, confidante, lover, soul mate and the other worn out slipper that makes us a pair.
Come May 10th, we’ll have been together 30 years, 28 of those as Husband and Wife.
He laughs and says he should be getting time off for good behaviour.
