Laughing: SLS 13th January

Labi Siffre was quite popular in the seventies.
I never bought any of his records, but certainly remember this as I had just left school and was in my first job with the Gas Board.

Crying, Laughing, Living, Lying was written by Labi Siffre and released in 1972 from the album of the same name, reaching number 11 in the UK singles charts. It Must Be Love had been released as a single previously in 1971, reaching number 14, but although both were released in the US, they failed to chart.

[Verse 1]
Crying
Crying never did nobody no good no how
That’s why I don’t cry
That’s why I don’t cry

[Verse 2]
Laughing
Laughing sometimes does somebody some good somehow
That’s why I, I’m laughing now
That’s why I, I’m laughing now

[Verse 3]
Loving
Loving never did me no good no how, no how
That’s why I can’t love you now
That’s why I can’t love you now

[Verse 4]
Lying
Lying never did nobody no good no how, no how
So why am I lying now?
So why am I lying now?
So why am I lying now?

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. It is a real nice song and I am glad that you added it today so I could get a chance to listen to it.

  2. Oh my gosh you just took me back a hundred years! I remember Labi Siffre and the sweet tone of his voice, I swear I hadn’t thought of him since the 70s until today. Thanks for the memory 🙂💕
