Time to Write: Notebook

Rachel has given us this as a writing prompt this week:

The Interview.

It was nothing special actually.
No-one would have given it a second glance, it was that ordinary.
There was nothing on the cover to indicate the treasures inside, but it sold at auction for two million bucks.
Why? the reporter asked.
Because it contained early sketches by a well known artist.
Who benefited?
A family run B&B he used to frequent for peace and solitude when he felt he was dipping into the depths of madness.
Why them?
Because they gave him space, time, and privacy, having no idea who or what he was.
They liked his sketches, so he gave them his notebook of original ideas.
Surely they could have cashed in on it before now!
They had no reason to believe it was worth anything, and it was purely by chance that one of his paintings was shown on TV and they recognised it from his sketch.
Wow indeed.
Any idea how they’re going to spend the money?
Absolutely none, apart from getting their kids through college and building an extension.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
